Paxton's original plan
A project we began a little while ago, with help from the Herbert Archives, particularly Mike Bevan, we photographed the original Joseph Paxton plans of the London Road Cemetery and then set to work.
The final result required the stitching together of over a dozen photographs, all with differing light conditions, and varying colours and resolutions.
Because these maps were originally hand-drawn in the mid-19th century, by different hands, this caused slight variations in scale, making the painstaking stitching even more difficult.
Please note: The full size we produced was AO, and extremely detailed. However, due to copyright restrictions, we offer here a much reduced sample size for your pleasure.
